Synopsis:
It was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime, a final adventure before settling down.
After a perfect start, Daniel and Laura’s travels end abruptly when they are thrown off a night train in the middle of nowhere. To find their way back to civilisation, they must hike along the tracks through a forest…a haunting journey that ends in unimaginable terror.
Back in London, Daniel and Laura vow never to talk about what they saw that night. But as they try to fit back into their old lives, it becomes clear that their nightmare is just beginning…
Romanian instances:
the story happens half in London and half in Romania (in a small village area, surrounded by woods, where no one speaks English, there are dozens of killometrers until “civilisation”)
the Romanian police who tries to help the two English people are seen as lazy, indiferent, they don't want to help, they don't speak English.
Romania is seen as being poor, savage, full of thieves, stuck somewhere in the past, without technology and with trains that take days to arrive at destination.
There's a Romanian couple who steals the things and the train tickets of the other couple, by playing nice and saying that they want to help. The Romanian woman, later in the story, is portrayed as a ocassional prostitute who breaks into the man's house and tries to scare/kill him.
There's also the magical/scary part of the country, as it is described: an old house in the Romanian wood where supposedly lives a woman who kidnaps children and eats them; kind of Hansel and Gretel vibe. Also, the Romanian woman can shapeshift into a big dog or a werewolf.
